Daniel Wragg Photography Interview

Name of your website?

Daniel Wragg Photography

Your name?

Daniel Wragg

Your Location (city, etc)

Portadown

Please give us a short summary of your website?

I provide my clients with interesting, creative photography for a range of uses from family portraits through to commercial images.~~

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I love what I do, I love people and I love to photograph people. I also thought that there was a gap in the market for contemporary, fun and interesting images.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website. It was launched in January this year.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I sat down and tried to think of cool and interesting names, but in the end decided to use my own to let my clients know that I'm just a normal approachable person, not some giant corporation with a million staff.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It's very simple. A photography website should be about the photos, so ive kept everything very simple. If people like what they see it's very easy for them to get in touch.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to keep taking innovative, interesting photographs that people like and enjoy 20 years from now. I love seeing my clients faces when they first see their images.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

As they say overnight success takes a long time. I feel successful in that I am gaining new clients and new friends all the time, I have a great relationship with everyone I work with. I feel very lucky.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I think I'd keep it just the way it is. Simple and easy to use.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Of course, thats the beauty of a simple design.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

At the start I didnt really know very much about marketing and web design, but with a tight budget I've had to learn a whole new set of skills. I'm now really grateful for that as it enables me to remain independant.

What has been your biggest challenge?

A very steep learning curve!!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I get most traffic through word of mouth.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's a pretty time consuming process, in the early stages I spent a lot of time in development and now have it more or less where Im happy.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's been almost a year. I think it will be running indefinitely. Its a really great way to showcase my work and let people know what Im up to.

Whats your favorite thing about running your website?

Making people happy and helpping them to catch their memories.

What is your website address?
