This website is designed to help the the Zimbabwean public find places to eat and to share their experience with everyone~~ What inspired you to launch your own website? The opensource community and the tools provided by opensource When did you launch your first website, and what was it? The first website was a one page place holder for Harvest International How did you decide on a name for your website? The wanted domain was taken so together with a few friends we voted out entries till we settled on eatout What makes your website different from other, similar offerings? This is a first in Zimbabwe - there are many similar sites around the world targeting other countries. What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?) The idea is keep the site for a constant revenue stream and to provide a online booking system - perhaps with commission How does your investment of time and money balance against your success? At the moment there is a lot of time and very little money - the success however as judged by the response of the users and the restaurant owners has been brilliant. If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site? Would employ a professional to work on the graphics If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand? Yes! we have a small yet dedicated team in place. What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with? The biggest problem has to be the lack of bandwidth in Zimbabwe - the slow access speeds. What method has been most successful for promoting your website? Flyers,word of mouth and google adwords How has running your website differed from your expectations? I didn't realise that many people are unable to update their own information. Net savvy is still low How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
