Please give us a short summary of your website?
My website brings to the public my beautiful vacation holiday rental property home in Languedoc, France near the beach. The website states that my renovated home is for rent at good prices, and is only 25 minutes from the beach. It has illustrative photos and pictures.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I wanted to derive income from the property. I live in Aubais, France, 6 months a year, and I rent it while I am there.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website, and I just finished and launched it officially, 12/1/08.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name should state clearly what the site is about. It's truth in advertising.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
It's about my property only, and it also offers various useful links to Resources that travelers and some Expats might find initially useful.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Eventually I want to sell it. Right now I am renting it. I would of course entertain a good offer if it came today.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's worked out. I am French/Swiss and have worked on fixing this property up for 15 years.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would make it much larger, another 25 pages full of information about French history, cuisine, and the Languedoc. This would attract the search engines and make the site more prominent. (I have a professikonal website Optimizer who is not a designer, but makes the pages search-engine friendly.)
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Sure, it's one house.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
In fixing the property up even more, the rise in rates for contractors and costs of construction materials.
What has been your biggest challenge?
I do a lot of the work myself, and the last time I checked, I was still getting older.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Website Optimization, and a listing in Fastpitch Network, with Press Releases.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I am surprised at the prominence my press releases relative to the site have achieved, via Fastpitch and Google.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site is new. I'll let it run, eventuall use it to sell the property, and then sell the site to the buyer!
