Your name?
Anne Erasmus
Your Location (city, etc)
Sandton, Johannesburg
Please give us a short summary of your website?
We provide objective reviews of weight loss programs, tips and tricks for losing weight, advice on exercise and a bi-weekly newsletter
What inspired you to launch your own website?
There are so many Buy! Buy! Buy! websites directed at the weight loss market, we wanted to offer more than just somewhere to get a hoplink. We want to bring a more sensible approach, and offer down-ot-earth advice
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
We are in advertising, so our first website was for our advertising business, Pixel Workshop
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We wanted to emphasise that we're getting down to the business of weight loss - with a sensible outlook.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Objectivity, offering reviews on a variety of weight loss programs, as well as advice and tips to help our readers
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We'll be keeping this website, as we do sell the programs we review.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's early days - we're investing a lot of time researching the programs, so hopefully it'll pay off soon.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We'd invest in some online advertising and PPC
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes - website design, development and maintenance is what we do on a daily basis.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None so far
What has been your biggest challenge?
Negotiating through the incredible volume of weight loss information there is online
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
As I said, it's early days. We're doing a lot of article marketing, blogging and SEO
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Because we're used to creating adverts and websites for clients who provide us with the basic information we need, the research has been tricky - we're adding to the site daily.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We've only been online for over a week. We'll give it a few months before we think about changing tactics.
